Spreading Krishna Consciousnss All Over the World

In his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, 1st Canto, Chapter 6, Text 26 Srila Prabhupada writes:

"The life of a sincere devotee of the Lord is thus explained in a nutshell by Narada Muni by his personal example. Such a devotee, after his initiation by the Lord or His bona fide representative, takes very seriously chanting of the glories of the Lord and traveling all over the world so that others may also hear the glories of the Lord. Such devotees have no desire for material gain. They are conducted by one single desire: to go back to Godhead. This awaits them in due course on quitting the material body. Because they have the highest aim of life, going back to Godhead, they are never envious of anyone, nor are they proud of being eligible to go back to Godhead. Their only business is to chant and remember the holy name, fame and pastimes of the Lord and, according to personal capacity, to distribute the message for others' welfare without motive of material gain."

Even though we do not consider ourselves to be such sincere devotees, still for our own purification and for the benefit of others we are accepting the duty of traveling to teach the science of Krishna in various places around the world.

Question: How to Make My Wife a Vegetarian?

Dear Prabhuji,

Namaskar. My obeisances to you.

I am a vegetarian for the last ten years ever since I heard about Krishna consciousness. But since my wife has interest in meat eating, sometimes I have to bring her meat. So how can I make her vegetarian?

Hare Krishna

Answer: Stop Bringing Her Meat

One who transports meat is also sinful. Therefore you must no longer bring meat to her. In this way, she will be forced to be a vegetarian. But even vegetarianism is sinful because the plants also have life. The only way to become free of sin is to offer your vegetarian food to Lord Krishna before you eat. In this way the foods are transformed from matter into spirit. Such food is called “prasadam,” which means “the mercy of the Lord.” One who eats only prasadam quickly advances on the pathway back to home, back to Godhead. This is why Krishna’s devotees only eat prasadam and nothing else.
