May the Entire World Become Krishna Conscious
The planet earth is now overburdened with a growing number of demoniac men whose only happiness in life is exploiting, abusing, and torturing others. Even the so-called nice people routinely engage in killing their own children through abortion and eating their own mother, the cow. So, it is indeed a most pitiable situation that we now face all over the planet earth. Therefore we are praying in the mood of Prahlada Maharaja that all the envious persons may become pacified and that everyone should become fully happy by engaging themselves in the devotional service of Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Question: Should Devotees Get Tattoos?
Dear Srila Gurudeva,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Some Hare Krishna devotees have a tattoo (Krishna or any other paraphernalia) on their bodies.
Did Srila Prabhupada allow this during his time?
Thanking you.
I beg to remain your humble servant.

Answer: Avoid Those Things That Are Unnecessary
When Srila Prabhupada was here nobody had tattoos. Since Srila Prabhupada never told us to get tattoos why should we have tattoos? If they were necessary, Srila Prabhupada would have gotten tattooed and instructed us also to get tattooed. But since he did not do either of these things we can understand that tattoos are unnecessary are thus a diversion from pure devotional service. Although tattoos may now have now a fashion in our spiritual society, it is better to avoid following such fads. Tattoos can be dangerous also. One devotee caught HIV because he got tattooed with a HIV contaminated needle. Now he must suffer for the rest of his life.
It has also been a fad in out society to wear a deity prasadam brahmana thread around the wrist. But Srila Prabhupada specifically ordered that this should not be done. More information can on this topic can be gotten on the following web page:

Beards and mustaches have also become a fashion amongst initiated devotees in ISKCON even though Srila Prabhupada instructed that initiated disciples should not have beards and mustaches. For more information on this consult the following web page:
