Question: If Initiates Break Their Vows?

What happens to initiates if they do not fulfill the promises they made to their spiritual master? And how by brahminical initiation does one advance in spiritual life compared to the first initiation?

Answer: They Fall Down into Birth and Death

If an initiated disciple does not fulfill his initiation vows, he falls back into the cycle of birth and death.

Brahminical initiation means that the devotee is now recognized as a brahmana because he has been able to keep his first initiation vows to chant at least 16 rounds daily of the Hare Krishna mantra along with the strict avoidance of illicit sex, meat eating, intoxication, and gambling. First initiation is all that is required for spiritual perfection. The second initiation, brahminical initiation, is an acknowledgement that he has now become a qualified brahmana, a duly authorized member of the priestly order, by successfully abiding by the vows which he accepted at his first initiation.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
