Blessed by Meeting an Exalted Godbrother

Upon my arrival in Mauritius I received the good news that my exalted Godbrother, His Holiness Gopal Krishna Goswami, was also present in Mauritius. After taking darshan of the beautiful Sri Sri Radha Golokananda deities at our temple in Phoenix I was then blessed with the opportunity to meet with Gopal Krishna Maharaja. It is always a great joy for me when I am able to associate with devotees like His Holiness who have absorbed themselves 100% in spreading the Krishna consciousness movement all over the world. Such Godbrothers are a great inspiration for me in my humble attempt to solidly establish the teachings of Lord Sri Krishna as the guiding principle for the human society.

Question: I'll Be Devotee Only When It Is My Destiny

When I encourage others to become Krishna conscious, quite often they say that they will only do so when it is their destiny to do so. They say that Krishna consciousness is not destined for them in this lifetime, that maybe in their next birth they will take to Krishna consciousness. What should we tell such people?

Answer: Be the Master, Not the Slave, of your Destiny

Destiny means karma. And karma chakra, the wheel of karma, will never allow you to come to the liberated platform, Krishna consciousness. Karma chakra will eternally keep you tightly within its clutches endlessly suffering repeated births and deaths through 8,400,000 different species of life. Therefore you will never in all of eternity become liberated by awaiting the time when it is your karma or destiny to become liberated. Liberation only comes when you consciously choose to escape the clutches of karma by chanting the name of Krishna and taking Krishna prasadam. This is like a person who is in prison with a life sentence. He will never be released from the prison. But if he is fortunate enough to discover a way to escape and he is brave enough to take advantage of it, then he can become liberated from the prison. So become now the master of your destiny instead of the slave of your destiny by surrendering to Lord Krishna. Chant His name and take His prasadam and become an eternally liberated soul.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments. Krishna is not a myth, nor is He an ordinary historical personality. He is the Supreme All-Attractive Personality of Godhead. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
