Gulf Oil Spill Madness

In horror we watch as now for 53 days millions of gallons of oil keep spewing out into the Gulf of Mexico making it more and more polluted by the hour. And still the gusher has not been stopped! Such outrageous anomalies are symptomatic of an age based on material sense gratification in which God is either denied or taken simply as our order-supplier. If we want to bring back balance and harmony to the human society, we must address the problems at the very root level instead of simply trying successfully or unsuccessfully to treat the symptoms. The root cause of all of difficulties is that we are trying to enjoy the property of our Father instead of doing our duty of engaging His property in His service. If we can simply start doing our duty, the anomalies will go away and we will have heaven on earth.

Question: True Self Versus "I Am"

Just when I start to think I am understanding this, I get a knock-down. I just read in the Gita that the False Ego is the "I Am", but I thought the "I Am", apart from the material body, WAS the true self. (as in pure awareness)

Apparently you are not reading a bona fide edition of the Bhagavad-gita. You are right. The Gita you read is wrong. The real Bhagavad-gita spoken by Krishna to Arjuna confirms the eternal individuality of God and the living beings. This is why we recommend that you should read Bhagavad-gita As It Is by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada's Gita will not frustrate you. It will liberate you.

False ego is to identify the self with the body. Real ego is to identity the self as the eternal spirit-soul servant of God.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
