Beware of False Gurus

A spiritual master who declares that he is God or allows his disciples to make propaganda that is he is God is a charlatan. He is not a bona fide spiritual master. Such so-called gurus will tell their disciples that they can also become God, that all they have to do is come out of illusion and realize that they are God. But God does not have to realize that he is God. God is always God with full realization. He is never covered by illusion. He cannot be covered by illusion because illusion is one of His energies. Such false gurus should be avoided because their association will create stumbling blocks on the pathway of self-realization. The bona fide spiritual master teaches us that we are the eternal servants of God, that we simply now have to revive our eternal loving relationship with our dearmost friend, the Supreme Lord.

Question: Chanting, But No Ecstasy Yet

I chant 16 rounds of Hare Krishna japa mala every day, but I haven't ever felt any transcendental ecstasy. How can I increase my devotion? Please guide me.

Answer: Be Patient and Keep Chanting

Although chanting the Hare Krishna mantra opens the devotee's heart to an ocean of unlimited transcendental ecstasy, it is a gradual process of awakening. If we are sick and we receive a doctor's prescription to cure our sickness, it takes time for the cure to become fully manifested. We must put our faith in the doctor and carefully follow his instructions. In this way, even if we do not experience immediate results from the medicine, in due course of time, we will be cured of our disease.

Chanting Hare Krishna is the ultimate medicine to cure us of the heaviest disease of all, the endless repetition of birth and death. We have been suffering from this disease for millions of lifetimes. A severe chronic disease is not cured immediately. It takes time. So keep chanting, putting your full faith in the process. I promise you that if you will continue chanting at least 16 rounds daily and following the regulative principles under the guidance of the expert spiritual master you will become completely cured of the material disease and taste unlimited spiritual bliss at every minute.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
