First Things First

Our problem is that we have our priorities wrong. That which is most important, i.e. our spiritual perfection, we tend to postpone. And that which is less important, i.e. our bodily activities, we tend to give the first priority. Simply understanding that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and that we should fully surrender to Him, is not in itself sufficient in itself for liberation. We have to practically engage our mind, body, and words in His service as our regular daily business. Otherwise Krishna consciousness will remain for us as a dream only that is never realized.

Question: How to Become Free of False Ego?

The first covering of soul is false ego. To remove it is very very difficult. Whenever we do some good work like preaching, immediately we think that I have done this i.e. we always try to give the credit to ourselves instead of giving to spiritual master or Lord Krishna. False ego is one of the powerful representation of Maya devi. Will you please guide me how to come out of illusion, as it seems to be very difficult.

Answer: Through Surrender to Guru

The easy way to conquer false ego is to fully surrender oneself at the lotus feet of the bona fide spiritual master giving him full credit for all of one's accomplishments and taking full blame for all of one's faults.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments. He is the oldest of all while simultaneously maintaining the form of a 16 year old youth.
