Bhakti is Our Original, Natural Propensity

In the Nectar of Devotion Srila Prabhupada describes how devotional service is the original, natural propensity of everyone and how simply by practice it can be revived. He compares it to a child learning how to walk. Here is how he describes it:

"Practice means employing our senses in some particular type of work. Therefore devotional service in practice means utilizing our different sensory organs in service to Kṛṣṇa. Some of the senses are meant for acquiring knowledge, and some are meant for executing the conclusions of our thinking, feeling and willing. So practice means employing both the mind and the senses in practical devotional service. This practice is not for developing something artificial. For example, a child learns or practices to walk. This walking is not unnatural. The walking capacity is there originally in the child, and simply by a little practice he walks very nicely. Similarly, devotional service to the Supreme Lord is the natural instinct of every living entity. Even uncivilized men like the aborigines offer their respectful obeisances to something wonderful exhibited by nature's law, and they appreciate that behind some wonderful exhibition or action there is something supreme. So this consciousness, though lying dormant in those who are materially contaminated, is found in every living entity. And, when purified, this is called Kṛṣṇa consciousness."

So let us all now take this practice of bhakti very seriously and revive our original, natural consciousness, our Krishna consciousness. Is there anything else worth doing in this material world?

Question: Why Do We Exist?

Hare Krishna!!!
Can you please explain to me why we all are here?
We have to struggle here for maintenance, but why do we exist?
After a day's struggle we are all at home at night. But what is the need to survive? We all get an education, then we find an eligible job, satisfied in our daily needs, developing our family and at the end what do we get?
The circle of life is really difficult. So why we all are here?

Answer: To Have a Loving Relationship with Krishna

From: ISKCON Austin, Texas USA

My Dear Drashti,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

We exist because Krishna enjoys loving relationships. This is why He is emanating us from His transcendental body. Since love cannot be forced it must be voluntary. Thus we have a choice to love Him or leave Him. Those of us who were so foolish to leave Him are like fish out of the water and are thus suffering greatly in our unnatural position. The solution for our unlimited anxiety is to fully surrender to Him under the guidance of His pure devotee, the bona fide spiritual master. This will bring us back to our original constitutional position of unlimited, ever-increasing happiness. Would you like to attain that position?

I hope this meets you in the best of health.

Your ever well-wisher,
