Should We Try for the Impossible?
Some of our readers may think that it was foolish that yesterday I wrote to the US President Biden asking him to take our guidance how to be a proper president, when the chances of him heeding our advice is practically nil. In this connection Srila Prabhupada compares such preaching attempts to someone who is going hunting for a rhinoceros. Srila Prabhupada wrote in a letter to his disciple, Balavanta Das, from Mumbai, India, on 22 December 1971 as follows:
"We should always be enthusiastic to try for shooting the rhinoceros. That way, if we fail, everybody will say, 'Never mind, nobody can shoot a rhinoceros anyway.' And if we succeed, then everyone will say, 'Just see, what a wonderful thing they have done.'"
Srila Prabhupada encourages us to try for the impossible. He said, "'Impossible' is a word in a fool's dictionary." If we are not successful in our attempt to accomplish something very great, there will be no loss. And if we are successful, it will be one of the greatest turning points in world history. So why not try it? We've nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Question: Is Guru Required?
Can Sadhana be done without a guru?Nandkishore Deopersad
Answer: Yes
In the beginning sadhana can be done without a guru. But it is better to have a bona fide guru so that you can know that you are practicing sadhana correctly. To achieve the perfectional stage the bona fide spiritual guru is required because Lord Sri Krishna orders us to take a spiritual master in the Bhagavad-gita (4.34). And the earlier you accept a bona fide spiritual master, the more rapidly you will make spiritual advancement. This is why is it recommended that your first step should be to take shelter and initiation from a bona fide spiritual master, the one who is teaching you Bhagavd-gita as it is without any additions or subtractions.Sankarshan Das Adhikari
