Srila Prabhupada's Disappearance Day

Today is a day of great lamentation. This is the day when my beloved spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, departed from this world in 1977. He is greatly missed. When he was here any controversies or deviations within our movement could immediately be resolved simply by his word. Now even though some of his instructions are being regularly disobeyed nobody, not even the GBC, is able to do anything about it and the deviations continue. For this reason I cry deeply on this day of his departure praying that by His Divine Grace the deviations that have crept into his movement can be rectified as soon as possible so that his movement can very soon lead the entire world out of chaos.

Question: No Feeling to Take Initiation

I am Chandra Prakash Maurya from Mumbai, India. I am following Krishna consciousness and ISKCON since 2007, chanting rounds, doing service as per my capacity, and also reading many of your articles.

Now I have many question seeing situation near me:

1) Still I have no feeling to accept a guru or take initiation. I don't know why. I am happy with Srila Prabhupada.

2) Why is there so much pain? My mother is a very good devotee. She has given many donations and is a good devotee. But she is now suffering with myeloma (a kind of incurable cancer). She is in very, very bad pain. After seeing her in so much pain I have many questions: What is use of this life? Why we are here? Does God exist?

Please guide me.

Regards.

Answer: That's Why You Are Confused

My Dear Chandra,
Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

You are so-called happy with your own imaginary Srila Prabhupada, not tasting transcendental bliss by following the real Srila Prabhupada who instructs us as follows in the Nectar of Devotion Introduction:

"The connection with the spiritual master is called initiation.
From the date of initiation by the spiritual master, the connection between Krishna and a person cultivating Krishna consciousness is established. Without initiation by a bona fide spiritual master, the actual connection with Krishna consciousness is never performed.”

Furthermore Srila Prabhupada told us in November of 1977 that he would not be initiating more disciples, that henceforward the new devotees coming to ISKCON would the disciples of his disciples.

So if you really are a true follower of Srila Prabhupada, you will strictly follow his instructions instead of your own nonsense mental concoctions.

It is because you have not actually connected with Srila Prabhupada that you are confused and wondering what is the use of life and if God really exists.

I am truly sorry to hear about your mother’s pain, and I hope that she can recover. However, pain is something we all experience, especially as we get older. We can have peace in spite of our pain by always remembering that whatever pain a devotee suffers is a minimization of what he actually deserves due to his previous sinful activities. And that pain is actually a blessing in disguise to help the devotee intensify within his heart his loving relationship with Krishna. In other words, the devotee uses pain as a springboard to increase his feelings of transcendental bliss. In this way he totally conquers over pain.

We exist to have a loving relationship with Krishna, to get out of the nasty prison house of material existence and get back to our original, all-blissful in the spiritual world.
