Connecting with Krishna

In this world we try to enjoy in so many ways. Some even go so far as to change their gender to try to enjoy in that way. But no matter what we may do to try to enjoy here, we can never be successful because this is not our natural environment. We are creatures of the spiritual world, not of this material world. All we have to do to become unlimitedly happy is get back to our original home in the spiritual world. This is easily done by chanting Lord Sri Krishna's name with love. It's as simple as that.

Question: Devotee Serves Everyone?

Dear Srila Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to you!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

How to understand a statement in the purport to Bhagvad-gita 2.41 that by acting in Krishna consciousness one can render the highest service to everyone? Srila Prabhupada in this connection gives the analogy of a tree which when watered to the root, automatically distributes water to leaves and branches. In other words, if Krishna is satisfied by one's actions, then everyone will be satisfied.

I do not understand word, "everyone". First of all, looking practically, what effect one's devotional service, performed in Germany, has to do with, let's say, a reptile sleeping in a swamp somewhere in Japan? And secondly, even if one has a direct contact with someone, that person may not be satisfied at all or even hostile. There is the example of Haridasa Thakur, who was beaten in twenty-two marketplaces because he was chanting Hare Krishna, and also the example of Prahlada Maharaja, whose demoniac father tried to kill him in so many ways because he was a devotee. So what does it mean that everyone is satisfied?

Please kindly explain.

Ruta

Answer: He Spiritualizes the Entire Universe

From: Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

My Dear Ruta,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

What this means is that the highest self-interest of all living beings is served. That highest self-interest is being delivered back to home, back to Godhead.

When one fully surrenders to Lord Sri Krishna his mere presence in this world has an uplifting, spiritualizing impact on the entire universe. The presence of the pure devotee is the greatest blessing even upon the lower species and the demons because knowingly or unknowingly everyone is benefited by the pure devotional mood and activities of those who are Krishna conscious.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari
