Guru for the Whole World

On a morning walk in Mayapur, West Bengal, India in January of 1976 Srila Prabhupada very wisely stated:

"What you have heard from the authorities, if you speak, you repeat that, that is real speaking. Then prthivim sa sisyat: then you'll be guru for the whole world, if you don't manufacture."

Therefore for our Krishna consciousness movement to be successful we must always be very careful not to manufacture some new idea which is not given in the scriptures or not given to us by Srila Prabhuapda. In this way if we strictly stick to what we have heard from authorities, we will be successful in making the entire world Krishna conscious.

On the other hand, if we deviate from the order of the spiritual master, we will be useless and the pure form of the Krishna consciousness movement will be finished. This is confirmed as follows in the Caitanya Caritamrita, Adi Lila, Chapter 12, Verse 10 as follows:

ācāryera mata yei, sei mata sāra
tāṅra ājñā laṅghi’ cale, sei ta’ asāra

"The order of the spiritual master is the active principle in spiritual life. Anyone who disobeys the order of the spiritual master immediately becomes useless."

Therefore we must always be very careful to strictly follow the instructions given to us by our beloved Founder-Acharya, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Question: Offer Food to Krishna or to the Spiritual Master?

Krishna says, “He who is a devotee of My devotee is actually My devotee.” But He also says that if one offers Him a leaf, a flower, fruit or water with love and devotion, He will accept it. How to understand, when does Krishna accept services directly and when through His devotees?

Answer: Offer to Krishna by Offering to the Spiritual Master

Srila Prabhupada taught us to offer food to Krishna by offering it to Him via the transparent via medium of the spiritual master. So, offering with love and devotion to Krishna means offering to Him in the way that He likes, by offering it to Him through offering it to the spiritual master. Therefore the system to always serve Krishna by serving His devotees. This is how we directly serve Krishna. If we try to bypass the devotees to serve Krishna, He will not accept our service. This is why Srila Prabhupada says that our service to Krishna is simultaneously direct and indirect. In other words, we directly serve Krishna when we serve Him through His devotees. If we try to bypass His devotees and serve Him directly, we are not serving Him at all. Is this clear?
