Celebrating Independence Day at Every Minute

In the USA the 4th of July or Independence Day is one of the biggest public holidays of the year. It celebrates that day in 1776 when the thirteen American colonies, which were then under British rule, formally adopted their Declaration of Independence from Great Britain. But ultimately how significant is this holiday? The American people must still get sick, get old, and die. Although they attained their desired independence from Great Britain, they have not gotten independence from these cruel pinches of the material nature. They got their independence from Great Britain, but they have not gained independence from the sufferings of material existence.

Conversely, the devotee of the Lord, who has taken complete shelter of the Lord, does not have to wait for a full year to celebrate independence day because he celebrates his complete independence from the all the sufferings of material existence at every minute.

Answer: Be Serious to Become Krishna Conscious

If you are serious about sudying any subject matter, you will find out some college, some institution where you can study it. Similarly, if you want to find a guru, you simply have to be serious about becoming Krishna conscious. If you are actually serious about this wonderful process of awakening your dormant Krishna consciousness, Krishna will send you one of His representatives to become your spiritual master, and he will take charge of you. That is the process. If you do not find a guru, this means that you are not yet sufficiently serious to accept the instructions of the spiritual master.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
