Today we are returning for tasting and spreading more of the nectarean rays of Lord Caitanya's benediction moon in Atlanta, Georgia. The city of Atlanta and the ISKCON temple there are both very much blessed because Srila Prabhupada stayed at the Atlanta Hare Krishna temple for several days in 1975. During that historic visit I was most fortunate to be initiated by Srila Prabhupada as a brahmana when he personally placed my brahmana's thread on my body. I can never forget the auspicious experience of receiving Srila Prabhupada's blessings for the execution a a brahmana's duties, which are especially to become highly learned in the Vedic wisdom and distribute that most sublime wisdom throughout the world for the deliverance of the fallen, conditioned souls from the clutches of illusion.

Question: What is Soma-rasa?

From the last six months I am reading "Thought for the Day" and chanting Hare Krishna as much as possible, like at home, while driving, and while working. I am really feeling a positive change, and I want to advance more. I have read the Bhagavad-gita and also I am now reading the Sama Veda. In the Sama Veda soma-rasa is mentioned so many times. But I do not understand what is this soma-rasa. It is available in the Kali Yuga? .

Soma-rasa is a type of intoxication which is consumed by the demigods in the heavenly planets. Sometimes, we see as in the example of Nalakuvara and Manigriva, who were cursed to take birth as trees, how the demigods get into trouble by indulging in intoxication.

Therefore instead of being interested in drinking soma-rasa beverage, the devotees prefer the ultimate intoxication of chanting as much as possible:

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here. But at least may it suffice for me to say for now that Gayatri taught me what it means to be a soft-hearted devotee of the Lord and she gave me my first cooking lesson, teaching me how to make cauliflower pakoras, and Amarendra taught me the art of how to preach strongly, intelligently, and coolly to defeat opposing arguments.
