Prahlada Maharaja Did Not Want Liberation Alone
Srila Prabhupada describes the great selfless mentality of Prahlada Maharaja in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, Fourth Canto, Chapter 14, Text 41 as follows:
"Prahlāda Mahārāja said that he did not want liberation alone. He decided to wait until he was able to deliver all the fallen souls of the world."
He also mentions this in a Srimad Bhagavatam lecture that he gave on 29 May 1971:
"Prahlāda Mahārāja said that 'I don't want my liberation alone. Unless I deliver all these fools who are rotting in this material world, I do not want my personal liberation.' This is Vaiṣṇava philosophy."
In this mood of desiring the deliverance of the poor souls who caught up in this material existence Prahlada Maharaja states in Srimad Bhagavatam, Seventh Canto, Chapter 9, Text 43 as follows:
naivodvije para duratyaya-vaitaranyas
tvad-virya-gayana-mahamrta-magna-cittah
soce tato vimukha-cetasa indriyartha-
maya-sukhaya bharam udvahato vimudhan
"O best of the great personalities, I am not at all afraid of material existence, for wherever I stay I am fully absorbed in thoughts of Your glories and activities. My concern is only for the fools and rascals who are making elaborate plans for material happiness and maintaining their families, societies and countries. I am simply concerned with love for them."
Srila Prabhupada is teaching us to also be compassionate upon the fallen souls of the material worldy by trying our best to bring them to Krishna consciousness.
