Hare Krishna Mantra: Most Powerful Vehicle for Spiritual Realization

During our Sunday Love Feast program on 10 April 2022 I was speaking with some guests who thought that the drug known as LSD was a very nice thing for spiritual realization. But I explained to them that as long as we remain dependent on something material we remain prisoners of the material energy. Spiritual realization requires that we attach ourselves to something spiritual. The Hare Krishna mantra is not a material sound vibration. It is Krishna Himself mercifully appearing within this prison of material existence to deliver us from our suffering in the cycle of repeated birth, death, old age, and disease.

In the early days of ISKCON Srila Prabhupada was preaching mostly to the hippies who were very fond of LSD. So Prabhupada had to teach them that Krishna consciousness was beyond the revered LSD trip. So he one time asked his storefront audience, "Do you think taking LSD can produce ecstasy and higher consciousness? Then just imagine a roomful of LSD."

Just see how merciful was Srila Prabhupada in turning the hippies into happies!

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
