The Meaning of Vyasa Puja

The great preceptor and compiler of the Vedic wisdom is Srila Vyasadeva. He is known as the literary incarnation of God. For any spiritual master to be bona fide he must purely transmit without any adulteration the original Vedic teachings as given by Srila Vyasadeva. The seat from which the spiritual master gives discourses is known as the Vyasasana, the seat of Vyasadeva, because only sinless persons who are purely presenting the teachings of Srila Vyasadeva are allowed to sit on it. And the most auspicious birthday or appearance day of the spiritual master is celebrated by his disciples and followers as Vyasa Puja, the worship of Srila Vyasadeva, because when we worship the current link in the line of disciplic succession that worship is transmitted directly to Srila Vyasadeva. On this day the disciples assemble together to make offerings of praise to their spiritual master. They fast until noon and offer a feast, puspanjali, and arati to their spiritual master at noon. Then the disciples joyfully partake of the feast that was offered to their spiritual master.

Question: Why Did God Create Us?

I regularly read the Ultimate Self Realization Course emails on a daily basis. They are very knowledgeable and helpful.

I have heard from different people different reasons why we are created but never obtained a concrete answer.

Kindly advise why we have been born and sent to earth. Were we first in God's kingdom and because of any sinful act done there have been sent to earth? Kindly explain.

Thanks and regards,

Geeta

Answer: To Enjoy Loving Relationships With Us

We are eternally being expanded from the Lord's transcendental body as His separated expansions for the purpose of our having loving relationships with the Lord. Since love is voluntary the living being can choose between loving the Lord and leaving the Lord. Sometimes he foolishly makes the mistake of leaving the Lord. When this happens the Lord then comes to this world or sends His representative, the bona fide spiritual master, to rescue His lost child from this world of birth and death by taking that child back to his or her original home in the spiritual world.
