Here's How You Can Become the Perfect Mystic

Thank you so much for opening "Thought for the Day." I put a lot of love and devotion into writing it, and it gives me great happiness when I see that you are opening it and reading it. So please open and read it every day. It only takes two or three minutes.

Today I want to share with you a wonderful verse from the Bhagavad-gita (Chapter 5, Verse 24), which tell us how we can be perfect mystics. Here's the verse:

yo 'ntaḥ-sukho 'ntar-ārāmas
tathāntar-jyotir eva yaḥ
sa yogī brahma-nirvāṇaṁ
brahma-bhūto 'dhigacchati

"One whose happiness is within, who is active and rejoices within, and whose aim is inward is actually the perfect mystic. He is liberated in the Supreme, and ulghimately he attains the Supreme."

Here is Srila Prabhupada's wonderful purport:

"Unless one is able to relish happiness from within, how can one retire from the external engagements meant for deriving superficial happiness? A liberated person enjoys happiness by factual experience. He can, therefore, sit silently at any place and enjoy the activities of life from within. Such a liberated person no longer desires external material happiness. This state is called brahma-bhūta [Bg. 18.54], attaining which one is assured of going back to Godhead, back to home."

So let's follow Lord Sri Krishna's superb, enlightening guidance and reject the superficial happiness of sense gratification taking instead the genuine, unlimited happiness of Krishna consciousness, which is always available within us whenever we choose to tune into it.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
