What to Do When Things Become Very Difficult?

In extreme cases of suffering a devotee may sometimes think that it is better to die than to go through this. In such situations here is some advice from Srila Prabhupada that can give us great solace:

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa confided to Śrīla Prabhupāda, "I am so disturbed by these dealings that I can't chant my rounds properly."
"That is natural," Prabhupāda replied. "Sometimes when I am disturbed, I also."
"But I can see that I am making spiritual advancement, even so," Tamāla Kṛṣṇa admitted.
Prabhupāda nodded.
"I used to think how to avoid difficult situations," Tamāla Kṛṣṇa said. "But now I think I should not run away from them."
"Yes," said Prabhupāda, "we should welcome these. They give us an opportunity to advance more."

Thus instead of being disturbed by difficulties we should take them as a great blessing from Krishna to facilitate our spiritual advancement.

What should I do if I offend a Vaisnava?

Answer

Srila Prabhupada explains in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, Fifth Canto, Chapter 10, Verse 24 when do to if we offend a Vaisnava:

"Offending a Vaiṣṇava is considered the mad elephant offense. A mad elephant can destroy an entire garden which has been developed with great labor. One may attain the topmost platform of devotional service, but somehow or other if he offends a Vaiṣṇava, the whole structure collapses. Unconsciously, King Rahūgaṇa offended Jaḍa Bharata, but due to his good sense, he asked to be excused. This is the process by which one can be relieved from a vaiṣṇava-aparādha. Kṛṣṇa is always very simple and by nature merciful. When one commits an offense at the feet of a Vaiṣṇava, one must immediately apologize to such a personality so that his spiritual advancement may not be hampered."

So let us always be careful to follow Srila Prabhupada's instruction so that our spiritual life is not destroyed.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me.
