Why Run After the Lower Taste When You Can Get the Higher Taste?
Srila Prabhupada spoke as follows in a Srimad Lecture given in Los Angeles, California, USA on 14 June 1972:
"Even George Bernard Shaw, he wrote one book that 'You are what you eat.' Actually, that is so. Why there are so many varieties of foodstuff? Because there are varieties of men. Those who are meat-eaters, if you give them so many varieties of fruits and sandeśa and rasagullā, he won't like it. He won't like it. If before the hog, you put nice, first-class halavā, 'No sir, stool. Give me stool.' Therefore hog. All right. One who has no discrimination of foodstuff, he is going to be hog next life. That is the punishment by nature."
Those who have experienced the higher taste of Krishna consciousness are no longer attracted to material senses gratification. In this regard Lord Sri Krishna states in Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 2, Text 59:
viṣayā vinivartante
nirāhārasya dehinaḥ
rasa-varjaṁ raso 'py asya
paraṁ dṛṣṭvā nivartate
"The embodied soul may be restricted from sense enjoyment, though the taste for sense objects remains. But, ceasing such engagements by experiencing a higher taste, he is fixed in consciousness."
So what are you after? Are you going for the lower taste that takes you to the animal kingdom in your next life or for the higher taste that elevates you to an eternal life full of bliss and knowledge in the spiritual world?

When one seriously takes to the path of Krishna bhakti under the guidance of the bona fide spiritual master he tastes a pleasure that is many times greater than the so-called pleasure of sex. Therefore he only has sex for procreation, not for recreation. In other words, because unnecessary sex pleasure brings him down to the platform of suffering he naturally has no interest in non-procreational sex. And to avoid being overcome by lusty desires he does not sleep in the same bed with his wife.

It is said that sex is only for procreation of the species not for sensual enjoyment and that it is only within married life. Since nowadays it is impossible to maintain more than two children, how it is possible that a man and woman could limit their sex to only having these two children, especially since as a married couple they sleep in the same bed?Manas Rajan Patra
