Perfect Chanting Means Perfect Relationship with Krishna

The quality of our relationship with Krishna is manifest in proportion to the quality of our japa. Sloppy, deficient japa means a sloppy, deficient relationship with Krishna. Perfect japa means a perfect relationship with Krishna. If we do not have perfect japa, we do not have a perfect relationship with Krishna. Imperfection in our relationship with Krishna means that we are still flirting with Maya, the material energy. Such a love affair with the material energy is suicidal for the eternal living being in that it relegates him to rotate perpetually in the cycle of birth and death. Therefore to be saved from the clutches of the material energy we have no alternative. We must perfect our japa by diving deep into transcendental meditation each time we chant our rounds.

Request: Change the Radha Krishna Picture

Please keep our request. Change the icon image of Sri Radha Krishna which appears daily in "Thought for the Day." There are so many dynamic and brilliant images. Forgive me for my mistakes.

Answer: You Are Seeing It With Material Eyes

I am surprised by your request to change the picture of Radha and Krishna. This means that when you look at the image you are not seeing Radha and Krishna. You are seeing instead the external material features of the painting without connecting with the Supreme Personality of Godhead who is fully present and manifesting His unlimited power, beauty, renunciation, knowledge, wealth, and fame through this extraordinary painting by a great devotee. That you are not perceiving the dynamic brilliance of this painting means that you are not seeing it with the eyes of love. You are seeing it instead with material eyes. This means that you should go deeper into your heart by awakening the love of God within. Then you will see how Sri Sri Radha and Krishna are both so splendorously present in this magnificent painting.

Mistakes are forgiven, but by submissive hearing from the spiritual master we have to learn how to avoid making foolish mistakes. It is not that we should continue making mistakes without learning how to avoid them, thinking that we can continue counteracting them by repeatedly begging for forgiveness. The proper mood is to hear carefully and remold our consciousness according to the directions received from the spiritual master and other Vedic authorities.
