$110,000 Loan Denied to Bogus Lord Rama

Yesterday we reported a bogus incarnation of Lord Rama who was asking us for a loan of 50 lakhs of Indian rupees to help him to be recognized in the world as Lord Rama. This was mistakenly noted as being the equivalent of US$1,100. But the actual amount our so-called Lord Rama was requesting was US$110,000. The sad state of affairs in this Kali yuga is that such bogus incarnations and charlatan gurus are able to attract followers and build movements.

Our so-called Lord Rama, though, did not get anywhere with us because we have been well trained by our spiritual master to easily spot such bogus incarnations and gurus. Since unfortunately, most people are not so well trained, they often fall victim to such charlatans. For want of enlightened governments such cheaters who speak all nonsense in the name of truth are able to perpetuate their crimes against humanity without being checked. Even during Lord Krishna's time there was a bogus incarnation named Paundraka, who challenged Lord Krishna that he, Paundraka, was the real Supreme Lord. Paundraka challenged Lord Krishna in battle and was beheaded by the Lord. In a similar way all of the cheaters are defeated by Lord Krishna in His all-powerful form of death.

Question: Proper Mood For Devotional Service?

What is the mood of our devotional service supposed to be? I understand that we must be enthusiastic in devotional service but my question is: What should the intent of serving Krishna be? For joy?

I mean to say is it okay to approach Krishna consciousness as a way of experiencing happiness? I personally am asking this question because I want to experience Krishna Consciousness out of the curiosity of the joy or happiness it will bring. If this is the wrong approach, or if we should just think of it as simply serve Krishna and not worry about our own happiness, then please help me understand this subject.

Answer: Give Happiness to Krishna

Krishna consciousness means the mood of giving happiness instead of taking happiness. Just as a mother neglects her own comforts to give comfort to her child, the devotee of the Lord is more interested in giving the Lord pleasure than he is in deriving pleasure from his service to the Lord. The beauty of Krishna bhakti, devotion to Lord Krishna, is that this mood of selfless service catapults such a devotee into the highest region of pure, unlimited happiness.

It is sometimes said that one has to give of himself before he is worthy to receive, and this principle is quite essential in the practice of Krishna consciousness. Unless one is willing to sacrifice his own satisfaction for the satisfaction of the Lord, he will never be able to taste the full bliss of Krishna consciousness. And when one thus abandons all self-centeredness to become 100% Krishna-centered he will experience an unparalleled, uninterrupted, ever-increasing happiness, which is known only to those rare souls who have become perfect in loving God.
