Tolerate and Transcend the Miseries

In this material world we are besieged regularly with an onslaught of miseries. There are adhyatmic miseries caused by the mind and body, adhibhautic miseries caused by other living entities and adhidaivic miseries caused by natural disasters. At any given moment we are under attack by at least one of these three types of miseries. Therefore Krishna advises us to be tolerant, not to be disturbed by these miseries that come and go like the changes of the seasons. If we fix our minds in Krishna consciousness, we will transcend the plane of miseries and gain eternal residence in the plane of transcendental bliss. The miseries will be still be happening on the material plane, but we will no longer be effected by them.

Answer: Base Happiness on Pleasing Krishna

You may inform your friend that as long as we base our happiness on the gratification of our material senses we must necessarily suffer through so many miseries. If we want actual happiness we must come to the platform of engaging all of our senses in the service of the Lord of the senses, Lord Sri Krishna. This and only this will bring lasting peace and happiness to the self.
