Don't Get Carried Away

In every day life we experience so many ups and downs. Some things excite us and some things depress us. If we want to escape this emotional roller coaster we have to come to the transcendental platform beyond the dualities, not allowing ourselves to be carried away by either mood. The English word "mood" is related to the word "mode". From the Bhagavad-gita we learn that there are three different modes: goodness, passion, and ignorance. We are advised to elevate our consciousness to the transcendental position beyond these modes of nature by absorbing ourselves fully and completely in the devotional service of Lord Sri Krishna. The key is to remain equipoised, always seeing everything in relationship with Krishna. This may not be an easy thing to do in the beginning. But with practice it gradually becomes easier and easier until it becomes a natural habit.

Answers According to the Vedic Version:

Question: How to Best Serve?

One thing I have always dreaded was the end of your e-course. The thought of not having your guidance day after day put much sadness in my heart and caused me much anxiety. Of course you have offered guidance in other ways, but just the thought produced such feelings in me. I want to be always connected to you in vani (instructions) or vapu (physical presence) , most importantly vani, as that is what you stress as most important in a disciple-spiritual master relationship. So therefore by all means I beg you to guide me how to best serve you, Srila Prabhupada and Krishna!

Your aspiring servant,

Answer: Serve with Love

You do not have to dread the end of my e-course. The spiritual master lives forever by his divine instructions and the disciple lives with him. If you take complete shelter of my instructions, you will have my guidance, blessings, and association for all of eternity.

The best service you can render to me, Srila Prabhupada, and Lord Krishna is to try develop your love for Lord Krishna. Whatever you do in the Lord's service always try to do it with love, not mechanically like it is some kind of chore. Do your service as if it is the greatest blessing, because that is indeed what it is.
