Don't Be a Dittohead

A dittohead is someone who thoughtlessly goes along with vox populi, the popular trends, without any consideration of whether such trends are beneficial or nonbeneficial for his ultimate well-being. In short, a dittohead is a mindless robot who says "ditto" or "me too" to what everybody else around him is thinking, saying, and doing. Human life is mean for thoughtfulness, not dittoheadness. One should try to find out who he is and what is the ultimate purpose of his existence whether or not such thoughtfulness is popular or not. Only when one is truly thoughtful regarding these existential matters is he actually a human being. Until then he is simply an animalistic dittohead.

Question: How to Explain Religion and Science to My Daughter?

How to explain to my daughter that religion explains more than science thru proofs and points from scriptures?

Your servant,
Geetha

Answer: Religion is the Perfection of Science

Explain to your daughter that science means to know what is actually true. It means to know things precisely as they are. What is being presented to the modern day world as science is not real science. It is rather nescience or dogma. The so-called scientists dogmatically cling to the principle that everything comes out of nothing, even though there is not one shred of scientific evidence to support this dogma. To the contrary there is an ocean of scientific evidence which tells us loudly and clearly that there is an original something, an original substance from which everything is coming. So real science means to trace out and know perfectly what is that original source of existence, and religion is the perfection of that science. Religion means to live in a state of perfect harmony with that original source of all existence.

Testimonial from Nithin Gukhool

Gurudeva, please know that your unswerving dedication is hugely appreciated. It is truly wonderful to see you overcome all odds despite all the challenges and stay on this path, on the singular strength of unwavering dedication to your spiritual master, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami who brought Krishna consciousness to the western world. He lit up my heart with the Hare Krishna mantra more than 15 years ago, and gave me the taste of bhakti, the gladdening of the heart one feels when one is under the guidance of a pure devotee and his representatives and set the "bliss barometer" through the roof. Ever since, no material pleasure or feeling has been able to come half close to the ecstasy of those early days of self-discovery in pure Krishna consciousness. and I know that although staying on the path is a struggle, I wouldn't want to have it another way since the greatest struggle is the greatest teacher.

I have realized that indeed the "higher taste" does remain with the sincere aspirant. I have also come to appreciate the basics of this process of awakening pure love, prema and I have also come to understand that a lot hinges on our relationship with devotees and devotee care. While it is certainly a challenge to increase our faith and keep steady, the fact that it is a spiritual journey makes it feel like it will keep getting better with time as the self matures in devotion and the creeper of bhakti starts producing its fruits. I can't wait for the day when I will be free from my spiritual weaknesses, foibles and sometimes offensive attitudes because I know that this will be a day that heralds a new beginning, a real cause for jubilation & celebration.

Looking forwards to years of spiritual enlightenment, growth and bliss,
