Weathering the Storms

There are many storms that we must endure while crossing the ocean of material existence on our return to the spiritual sky. So if we want to successfully cross this dangerous ocean, we must be determined captains to keep our ships on course through all varieties of circumstances. To keep our ships on course we must always remember Krishna. The easiest way to do that is to always chant the Hare Krishna mahamantra as much as possible at least 1,728 times a day. 1,728 repetitions of the mahamantra is accomplished by chanting 16 rounds on japa mala beads. Why this number? This number gives a full charge of our spiritual batteries for one day of Krishna consciousness. In this connection it is interesting to note that the most pious age, the Satya Yuga, has a duration of 1,728,000 years.

God has created the 8,400,000 different species to facilitate the conditioned soul's desire to enjoy this material world. The illusioned living being tries in one way to enjoy and is not satisfied. Then he tries to enjoy in another way and is still not satisfied. Because he so much desires to enjoy this material world, Krishna kindly facilitates him by giving him 8,400,000 different ways to try to enjoy this material world. But when he comes to his senses, he realizes that this material world is simply a place of misery, no matter what position he may take here, he inquires why he is suffering and desires to realize the Absolute Truth.

Heart Melting Reunion with Amarendra and Gayatri

On Friday 26 June 2015 I was blessed with the greatest good fortune of meeting with two of the dearest devotees of my entire life, His Grace Amarendra Prabhu and his good wife, Srimati Gayatri devi dasi. I am eternally indebted to these great souls for how much they helped me in my spiritual life when I was a young devotee. When I was young brahmacari monk in 1973 I joined with the two of them in Gainesville, Florida. We were a three person preaching center, and they were just like a mother and father to me. I had so many wonderful Krishna conscious experiences in their association that I can hardly begin to describe them here.
